This just explains briefly what each config is for:

G5 - the kernel the release media was built with
|
|
new-G5 - an updated config of the above. Use this for subsequent releases
|
|
power_merged - ibm hardware (all)
|
|
xserv - deprecated. keeping only for historical
|
|
|
